Provision of health services to tourists

 

There are no tourist clinics in Varaždin County.

Tourists who are in the area of Varaždin County during the tourist season, and have needs for health care services, can exercise them as stated in the instructions below:

Citizens of the European Union who are on a trip to Croatia or for some other reason are in Croatia only temporarily, and are compulsorily insured in one of the Member States of the European Union, have the right to use the necessary health care on the basis of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), with the payment of a co-payment.

The costs of medical services provided to persons coming from countries with which Croatia does not have contracts are charged directly to the user according to the price list. Tourists can also use the services of private doctors and dentists by paying the full price of all medical services.

In case of life-threatening or seriously impaired health emergencies, call emergency medical assistance at 194

(sudden difficulty in breathing, choking by a foreign body, cardiac and respiratory arrest, loss of consciousness, sudden chest pain, convulsions, difficulty speaking, weakness or paralysis of a part of the body, facial distortion, injuries caused by traffic accidents and other sudden injuries (falls from a height, gunshots), unusual bleeding, electric or lightning shock, hypothermia, heat stroke, drowning, drug poisoning).

HEALTH SERVICES FOR TOURISTS IN PUBLIC HEALTH INSTITUTIONS IN VARAŽDIN COUNTY

In case of need for urgent medical assistance, tourists are entitled to health care under the same conditions as Croatian insured persons, provided that they have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Domestic tourists receive health care on the basis of a valid HZZO card.

In the case of acute diseases and conditions that are not life-threatening, seek help from a doctor, which you will find through the website of Varaždin County Health Center - https://www.dzvz.hr/ordinacije-i-lokacije.html (conditions for which you would normally go to your doctor, such as inflammation of the respiratory tract, viruses, fever, minor burns, minor accidents, abdominal pain, back pain).

Family (general) medicine:
Special on-call duty in the field of family (general) medicine, health care of preschool children is carried out on Saturdays from 15:00 to 20:00 and on Sundays and holidays from 8:00 to 20:00.

Special on-call duty in the field of family medicine is performed at two locations:
